Privacy

We intend to give you as much control as possible over your personal information. In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. There are times, however, when we may need information from you, such as your name and address. It is our intent to let you know before we collect personal information from you on the Internet (cf. the section "Statistical logging.").

To comply with the EU Data Protection Directive we would like to confirm that any personal data entered at this website (e.g. while performing a participants' registration, abstract submission or member's database update and similar actions) is stored electronically and will only be used by and made available to the STS Council and/or the webmaster (as far as administrative purposes are concerned).

In particular, we will not make your email address available to anyone outside the STS, unless specifically entitled to do so. Be advised, however, that due to the nature of the Internet, all transfers to and from this site might be accessible at all nodes along the connection route. Also, the content of online-forms may be sent to someone outside the STS, in this case, the recipient's name and eMail address will be stated above the form.

There are areas on this website that require proper authorization prior to accessing data. If you are a member of the STS, you will be issued a password. If this password does not work any longer, if might have been changed. If you did not receive the new password, please contact the webmaster. "Sharing" or giving your password to an unauthorized person (i.e. someone who is not a member of the STS) constitutes a violation of our privacy policy and will be prosecuted.

Statistical logging

We do keep track of the domains from which people visit us as well as other auxilliary data. We analyze this data for trends and statistics, and then we discard it. Data gathered by monitoring and logging is under no circumstances made available to other persons than the webmaster and the STS council.

On the topic of web bugs: rest assured that we do not use them.

Sponsoring Notes

This website displays commercial advertisements (banners). We do recognize the fact that you may find this at times distracting. However, this site has not been set up in order to make personal profit by selling ad space.

On the contrary, the STS has the status of a non-profit organisation (in accordance with German law). All money paid by sponsors is transferred into a bank account owned by the Signal Transduction Society. After paying the bills for this website (it is hosted commercially by Strato AG, Berlin), all remaining money will be used in accordance with the "Satzung":

"The Gesellschaft für Signaltransduktion (GST) or Signal Transduction Society (STS) is devoted to scientific exchange between investigators concerned with cellular signal transduction. Main purpose of the STS is the continuous and determined development of an interdisciplinary forum for research on Signal Transduction."
